This course is designed to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills in the proper, legal, and safe application of handcuffs as a restraint tool.

Handcuffing is a critical function for security operations. When done correctly, it can control a subject with minimal force and reduce the risk of injury to all parties. When done incorrectly, it can escalate situations, cause harm, and expose you and your organization to legal liability.

This training will focus on:

• Understanding the legal standards and use-of-force policies surrounding restraint

• Identifying risks and recognizing signs of medical distress or positional asphyxia

• Learning proper control techniques and positioning to safely apply and double-lock handcuffs

• Practicing scenarios for compliant, non-compliant, and high-risk individuals
